End of Christmas Break (*tear*)
Since it is already January 3rd, I think it might be time for another post in The Paradise. Most people are returning to school by now (or will be soon) and thus should have something to talk about. Good times during the break, classes that are dreaded, moving back horror stories??? Didn't this break go by way too fast?
Ok, this should be enough for my first post. Safe travels for all leaving for school!

I have once again taken to using the YVCC computer lab simply because I can multitask so much better here than at home, where I have dialup. Classes today were great, if only because Sally and I pretty much laughed the entire time about.....everything! She makes me laugh so easily. I am saddened, though, by the fact that I had to spend three hundred dollars on textbooks this morning. Ouch.......And the sellback rate is only ten percent, so I'm pretty much sucked dry. =/ Oh well. :)
AT CENTRAL, I got about half of what I paid originally when I sold my English textbook back. ;)
Two words dudes. On line. ;) If it's a common book, you just might find it at some such place like half.com. Good deals. :) I myself have to buy several bazillion small books tomorrow because my UCOR theology teacher just so happens to be a slightly overzealous English teacher. ;) Ah well, such is life. Break did seem to go way too fast. I am already looking forward to spring break . . . and, perhaps a possible trip to California with Annie and Margaret and anyone else who wants to come and sleep on my sister's apartment floor? ;) Geez, speaking of books, I think I just wrote one as far as comments are concerned . . .
Bonnie, it's a good think you aren't going to be an english teacher. Your commenting tendencies indicate that you would also be an overzealous prof. ;)
Break was way too fast and I have not even gone back yet. I have enjoyed being home, but I am looking forward to going back and starting new classes.
First day of classes (*dramatic music*)!!!!!!! and.... I SURVIVED!!! French was kinda scary, in that the prof only spoke in French (quelle surprise) and I only understood about half of what he said. I knew I was a lost cause when I thought I heard him say grand-mere/grandmother several times, and we were going over the syllabus. I will see how it goes... I hope I don't have to drop this class. =/ Other than that, classes went very well!!
What??! No Christmas Break? I would demand some sort of exception made......but perhaps that's because I DO believe in God. And hung over........is drinking even worth it? I mean, yeah, it might be fun to drink, but isn't it so much worse to be hung over? Doesn't the bad outweigh the good in this situation? But then, I guess I wouldn't know, as I'm sadly out of the loop. The only alcohol I've ever had was the nyquil my parents gave me one night when I couldn't sleep. That's it. Pathetic. Oh, and once my mom made brisket with brandy. Does that count? :)
The difference between a party with drinking and a party without drinking. They both have an awsome time, but the non-drinkers remember it all.
SEAL
Heh, while you make an excellent point, Dan, I admit that I've gone to some parties where I totally didn't have a good time. I think that may be due more to my own disposition, however, than to whether or not I was drinking. :)
I hope you all are happy to be back at school...I am trying to enjoy the few days that I have left. I am not looking forward to going back and waiting in line to buy books.
I think it might be time for a new topic
Already???! This one isn't even old yet.........at least as far as amount of time on the blog, anyway.
It may not be old, but it has exaused all conversation.
Wow. A new post topic already? Um . . . perhaps we should vent professor frustrations? I'm sure we all have eccentric professors of one type or another. :D I know my professors at SPU provide me with all sorts of material. ;)
Speaking of frustrations... on the first day of Intro to Theatre we had to go through all of these slides... with our prof asking "do you think THIS is art?" and "Why don't you think this is art?".... blah blah blah... and then shows us this picture of the crucifix surrounded by red and yellow... which after discussion she tells us that it is cow's blood and urine. How is that for frustrating? What kind of so-called artist could do something like that? I was disgusted...
(*Annie crosses Central off her 'possibilities list' with a random syllable muttered contemptuously to show her indignation and outrage*)
ah yes...piss cross (if my memory serves correct). I saw it in one of my classes at YVCC (sorry Annie). As to "What is art?" Art is anything you want it to be. It is limitless. Anyways...back to the subject. Today was my first day of spring semester (sorry to anyone stuck in winter). I was pleased with my teachers. Most of them were hilarious to say the least. I am sure that this will be a fun and exciting semester.
I expect YVCC to be crappy. However, I'd like to go to a school I am proud to sport the name of on a sweatshirt. Not that that's probably UW, either, but......all I've heard so far from Steve (the Intervarsity leader) has been really nice, so I'm more inclined to consider UW than Central, anyway. We'll see, though. :)
Central is a pretty good school. I don't regret coming here... but sometimes I wonder at the ... intellectual challenge. I don't feel challenged always. Maybe my HS teachers prepared me really, really well? I don't know... but in the back of my mind I have considered transfering to UW after two years instead of waiting to get my Bachleor's. Then again, the class sizes here are really wonderful here. I haven't been in a class yet that exceeds sixty people (and that includes general breadth requirements)... whereas I have heard at UW class sizes can get into the hundreds... so that is something to consider as well. In fact, some of my classes have only eight-fourteen people in them.
To finally put in my two cents worth on this topic, I had a really good time while I was away on break. Basically, I hung out with friends, but I think the highlight was when one of my very good friends from Virginia came down to play Xbox. She didn't come down just to play Xbox, but my place was her first stop.
So we had a good time playing Xbox until 2 in the morning, then went to hang out at Waffle House until 530 in the morning. Next day, we got up, went to lunch, and did some other stuff.
It was great to finally see her again.
Anyway, that was the fondest memory I had from my break, enjoy.
Kim, do we have one of those waffles places here in Yakima? If it's not the same thing, then what's the name of the one we do have but I've never gotten around to actually going to? And I don't mean Ihop, but the one Cherize keeps telling me about.
I have no idea where it is.... But I do know that it is called Waffles Cafe and Cherize's sister used to work there. I have been wanting to go there, but never got around to it... wanna go with me sometime?
Ahhhhhhhhh......that's it! Waffles Cafe. And yes, I'd love to :) But first, I have a nice little restaurant I'd like to take you out to if you're coming home anytime soon, just because :) Speaking of which, when ARE you coming home again? And when is your spring break? Have I asked you that already? And Steve, it's wonderful to hear that you had such a great time with your friend. Some of my favorite and most enjoyable memories are hanging out with Kim and Cherize after work (after Kim's work, as she works late hours) and just talking. Some of it is serious, some of course is full of my jokes, but either way the occasion is almost always memorable.
On the place to go to college once you transfer I cast a vote for Eastern! Close to Spokane but still in a small town. The best of both worlds.
Sally
WSU-Close to Spokane and a small town (but a bigger school)
SPU- Freakin' awesome! And also freakin' expensive unfortunately . . . :-\ I wish you could come here Annie. I know you would love it. And I wouldn't be so adverse to the idea either. ;)
Heh. There's nothing I'd love better, Bonnie. I so wish I could go to SPU......unfortunately, I don't think I could afford it, especially if I want to eventually get my masters. I did love it there when I visited, though......:(
Ahhh well, sometimes I have to be more practical than I could wish. Maybe I'll go to UW, though, and we can hang out. :) I'll totally go to you're church, and we can be in the same life group or whatever. It would be just like old times! :D And heh, since I'm already feeling lifegroupish right now......I love you so much. :) But at least this way Moyer will not be disturbed by the enormous amount of giggling and laughter that would be the result of us living in the same dorm building, or, heaven forbid, the same room! :D
Actually you could live together if you were to get an apartment.
Heh. Yay! Let's all go to the same school together next year! We can have fun times! :D Well, I think it would be fun anyway . . . like Friends. ;) Of course, I can't see Moog switching schools, and if Kim came to Seattle she wouldn't be able to visit Yakima as much, so I guess maybe it's not all that feasible. :-\ ~Sniff, sniffle . . . ~ I love you too, Annie!
(*Group hug!*)
I think it's time for a new topic. (I mean an offical one.)
I would never go to SPU because I hate the rain. Plus I'm practical like Annie so the money thing is a hang up.
How is it that two people like us can be so practical and yet so goofy? :)
easy...everything is in need of balence and your goofyness ballences practicality
That was . . . that was so wise, Emily! :) I wonder what deep, serious trait I am hiding underneath all this silliness . . . hmm . . .
oh it is there somewhere. I know it!
For all you high tech computer wizards out there...I was just wondering what would be the best anti-virus software to get.
I would get McAffy, but Norton is good as well.
I am sure it is time for a new topic
