A new post from the long lost sys admin!

I haven't posted on this thing for a way long time, so I thought I would, and see if anyone else has any books they plan on reading this summer now that they don't have to read text books for a while. So do you? And if so, what are they?

And on a completely different topic, what is everyone majoring in, and what would be their ideal job after college?

I plan on reading Jude the Obscure (finally), a book about foster care that I thought sounded interesting, and maybe The Motorcycle Diaries. Also, I'm hoping to finally getting around to reading The Purpose Driven Life, which I didn't bother to read in high school with the rest of the church :/

I'm majoring in Spanish, and my ideal job after college would be working down south somewhere in missions for a while (maybe....maybe not though), and will likely eventually either teach or work in an office somewhere. :) That's the plan, anyway.

Well...

I plan to finish the Hitchiker's Guide trilogy, and that's probably all I'll do in terms of reading.

And if you don't know by now, or have just forgotten, I'm majoring in Computer Engineering at DigiPen.

As for a job....well that's still up in the air, but I'm looking at robotics or aerospace.

I want to finish up the Lemony Snicket series and I have an abridged version of War and Peace that I got from the library book sale (kind of cheating I know) and I have Through the Looking Glass, and . . . if the third book in the Bartimaeus trilogy is out, I wanna read that, and . . . I have to read Emma 'cause I totally lost a bet in senior year to Josh and I still haven't followed through on my part . . . but I think that might be it as of now for books. ;)

My ideal job after college would be a research position somewhere. Research in plants. Preferably not agricultural research, but a lot of that is done, so that'd be okay too. :)

I want to read the unabridged version of The Count of Monte Cristo. (Does anyone is Yakima have a copy of that?) That's the only one for sure, the library has some good books. . . I'd like to read The Purpose Driven Life too. . .we didn't read it at my church while I was in high school.

Job job. Lets see, I'd like to work at EPIC or Head Start or if the Trailseekers and Orcas thing paid you money, that'd be nice. I'd love to run a Orcas for girls, but you do it on donation money which means you don't get paid except for gas I believe. Maybe I could do that when I'm all growed up and therefore have time and money to spend.

Lots of books to read, I still have. List them, I will not. For bore you, I shall. (Don't ask why.)

My ideal job after I get back into the civilian world would be an electritian. I might also go to college and take computer classes with the money the government will give me to go to college.

Well, since I sparked quite a few of the DHC books this year, I might go back and read a few- like The Aeneid, or the philosophers like Plato and Aristotle, and might even read more of the Indian/Hindu philosophy that we read this year. I would also like to read Emily's Quest in order to finish the Emily of New Moon series... and would like to get my hands on anything by LM Montgomery. I would like to read more poetry, specifically by Sylvia Plath, Edgar Allen Poe, and John Keats. I want to reread Mere Christianty and want to read this one book recommended to me by my friend Mary called ... (let me check)...Dangerous Wonder. And I want to FINISH Pride and Prejudice which I have been reading for the past two years!!!!! (I never seem to have the time to really get into it)... and speaking of books... I talked to the owner of Cheshire Books this weekend and it seems as though business is really bad, especially for small shops... so any chance that you get (if you live in Yaki Vegas or nearby) please stop by there and buy a book or two!!

Onto my major.... It used to be French Education- I had convinced myself at the beginning of this year that I wanted nothing else than to be a high school French teacher. Yeah... now I have no clue what I want to do with my life... well, anything tangible anyway. There are LOTS of things that I want to do with my life that may not be considered "sensible".... like I want to own a shop someday filled with books or coffee or knick knacks or something and I want to be a writer... and I want to travel abroad lots- especially in European countries, and I want to help people... and I want to work in a coffee shop at some point in my life... and ... you get the idea. Honestly, if I could, I would write all of my life... but I am not sure if I have the talent and dedication to be a successful writer.

If the length of your comments are any indication, you do have the dedication as well as enthusiasm. Heck, they're actually longer than mine!

Ooh...The Motorcycle Diaries. I approve after having seen the movie as part of the independent film series at school. And so as to not go completely off topic:

I'm still a music ed major. After graduation, I might like to go into the Peacecorps for a couple of years before settling into a teaching position, preferably middle or high school band.

I would also love to go on a mission trip to Haiti or Mexico sometime. Maybe with my church 'cause they go to Haiti twice a year, but I think I'd rather volunteer at an orphanage. . . they have programs through almost all colleges. . .so we'll see.
